Man arrested after deadly hit-and-run accident

A man from Phoenix has been arrested in relation to a hit-and-run car accident. Though he has not yet been convicted of anything, police strongly believe that he may have hit a teenage girl with his car.

The girl did not survive the accident. She was just 17 years old when she passed away.

Reports indicate that she was attempting to cross the street when she was hit. She was apparently legally in the crosswalk. The accident happened on a Monday night.

Witnesses have talked to the authorities, and they say one of the witnesses even trailed the man after the accident, following his car. He drove to a local supermarket before he stopped. There, he got out to see how badly he'd damaged his car. The police swept in at that point and made the arrest.

The man is 36 years old. He could face charges for manslaughter and for failing to stay at the scene of a fatal crash. He has gone to his first court appearance, to set his bond, and it was put at $50,000.

The teenage girl was rushed to a hospital by emergency crews after the crash. Unfortunately, the medical staff announced that she had passed away.

A deadly accident leaves a family reeling, and it can be heartbreaking for a family to see the driver show more regard for his car than the person he hit. In no way does compensation replace a loved one, but the unexpected can be very costly, with medical bills, funeral costs, and much more. It's important for family members to know their legal options.
